A Life in Service of the Light

— ✦ —

Brother Mazwi is the Keeper of the Light of Sum Wah. His life has been shaped by a single purpose: True spiritual liberation

What does it mean to be truly free? Brother Mazwi has carried that question for more than thirty years. He carried it into meditation and into the study of religion, philosophy, psychology, and mythology. He carried it through his years as an ordained minister and counselor. Most of all, he carried it into the moments he spent with people whose lives were changing. He watched how people search for meaning, and how their beliefs shape what they see. He watched how suffering shapes behavior. Again and again, he saw that people rarely lose their way in one dramatic turn. They drift, through a thousand reasonable stops. They reach for something beyond the present moment, searching outside themselves for the peace, identity, and freedom they long for. He recognized that same searching in himself. What followed was a long unlearning. Over years of contemplative practice, the conditioning loosened: the striving, the comparing, the reaching for a freedom always somewhere ahead. In that stillness, something became clear. Life itself was already providing the ground for awakening. This was the Light of Sum Wah. It was revealed in contemplation and spiritual insight. Then it was tested, year after year, against life itself: in counseling rooms, in meditation, in families and workplaces, and in his own spiritual journey. What held true remained. Slowly, it took the shape of a path, the Five Gates. Brother Mazwi teaches Sum Wah as what it truly is: Life changing. He teaches it as something which is only revealed through living consciously through the 5 Gates. Something all human beings can do. The path is in all we think, decide and learn. It is ground on which we learn to stand. Sum Wah is offered as a system of knowing.  The student is invited to examine. To practice. To experience. To understand. And ultimately, to discover what freedom means through the way we CHOOSE to live. This is Sum Wah. In this way, liberation is learning how to master the Gates and live in harmony with life.

His work is to help students see what has always been present within them. The Light.

The Sum Wah Lineage

— ✦ —

Sum Wah is a spiritual movement for global harmony. It is a living teaching experienced between Keeper and student through teaching, practice, reflection, and the cultivation of inner stillness. Its roots reach into contemplative traditions that have long understood the nature of Light as both metaphor and reality.

The name Sum Wah points toward wholeness and harmony — the recognition that what we seek has never left us. We are whole and complete. And we can experience this wholeness fully. Now.

Brother Mazwi received direct spiritual transmission and guidance from his spiritual center and the first Keeper, Brother K. Izgod. He studied under Brother K. Izgod from 1992 to 1995 when his teacher returned to pure Light. Br. Mazwi expanded the revealed truth through diligent unlearning and authorship.  He offers it now in the same spirit. The way is complete harmony. The path is illuminated. All you have to do is be open to receive it.
